About Me

I was born and raised in beautiful, rural Punjab in India. Surrounded by vast, golden, sun-drenched fields, nurtured by books, poems and stories of valour and infused with the values of community, leadership and resilience, I was raised by parents with transformative, liberal and avant-garde vision. I have always dreamed of creating a better, more equitable world. And that sense of purpose has guided me across continents, into classrooms, labs, community halls, and global stages, shaping the person I am today.

As an individual, I derive the greatest sense of purpose, passion and fulfillment from my work. In this space, I’m excited to share with you some of the projects, professional and advocacy work I have been involved in.

My Portfolio

Let's Connect

I am a passionate community advocate with a strong background in chemical and manufacturing engineering, research, and equity-focused student programming. I am highly skilled in policy advocacy, public speaking, program development, and stakeholder collaboration.

Research in Chemical Engineering
  • Instrumental Analysis: Gas Liquid Chromatography (GLC), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), FTIR Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry, Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), Internal & External Standard Preparation, Thin Liquid Chromatography (TLC)
  • Organic Labs: Rotatory evaporator, Distillation, Synthesis and Purification of Organic compounds, Saponification, Moisture balance operator, Melting point Operator
  • Analytical Techniques: Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses- Ion-resin exchange, determining pH, titrations, gravimetric and volumetric filtration, glassware and instrument calibration
  • Unit Operations: Hands-on work including operating, and troubleshooting of chemical reactors, pumps and filters, mechanical set-up and their maintenance
  • Researched and designed experiment and process to produce biodiesel from Canola oil, purify it by gravity filtration and perform GC analysis to test its purity and reproducibility
  • Investigated the optimal amount of methanol required for maximum yield and obtained 98-99% yield with high reproducibility
  • The “Plant-in Pipe” solvent extraction method uses static mixers in place of pump-mix contacting equipment and a gravity separator is used for the organic aqueous disengagement. The process individually pumps the organic and aqueous streams to a short residence time static mixer. The initial mixing is followed by a longer residence time “reactor”, comprised of packing material in a pipe, allowing more time for the mass transfer to occur. The final step is a cylindrical, horizontal gravity decanter to allow the two phases to separate
  • Using a pilot scale unit, the effects of flow rate, packing material, phase ratios, mixer materials and static mixer types were investigated. After preliminary research, six static mixers from three companies, Koflo, Kenics and Sulzer are used throughout further research. From each company, both a stainless-steel mixer and a PVC mixer are tested.
  • The objective of the experimentation was to examine differences in the results of each mixer if they exist. Ideally the differences will determine which static mixer or mixers provide the most ideal mixing for mass transfer, while also minimizing entrainment. This experimentation will also look at the effects from the addition of packing to the reactor, droplet size analysis for the final aqueous and organic lines and working on doing batch processes versus continuous processes.
